Can You Use Your Vinted Balance to Buy Items on Vinted?

By Depop Automation Team · October 7, 2026 · 4 min read

Plenty of people sell on Vinted to fund their next purchase on Vinted. So once a few sales have cleared, the obvious question is whether the money can stay in the app and be spent there, or whether it has to go to your bank and come back as a card payment.

Yes, cleared Vinted Balance can be used at checkout

Money that has finished clearing in your Vinted Balance can be used to pay for items. When you check out, choose your balance as the payment method. If the balance covers the full total, nothing else is needed.

The total includes more than the item price. It also covers the buyer protection fee and shipping, so the amount you need in your balance is higher than the price on the listing. See Vinted selling fees explained for how the buyer-side fee works.

Only cleared money is spendable

Sale money doesn't become usable the moment someone buys. It stays pending until the parcel is delivered and the buyer's confirmation window passes without a problem being raised. Until then, it can't be spent or withdrawn. See how long Vinted takes to pay for the timing.

If the balance doesn't cover the total

If your balance is short of the full checkout total, you'll need another payment method. Checkout will show what it accepts in your country. Rules on combining balance with a card vary by market and change over time, so go by what your checkout screen offers rather than assuming.

Why the balance option might be missing

If you can't see your balance as a payment option:

  • The money is still pending. It hasn't cleared yet.
  • Your wallet isn't fully verified. Vinted can ask for identity details before you use or withdraw balance. Finish any outstanding step in your balance settings.
  • The app needs updating. Update it, close it fully and reopen it.
  • The balance screen is stale. See Vinted balance not showing up for the usual display problems.

Spend it, or withdraw it?

Spending balance on Vinted makes sense if you're clearing your own wardrobe and buying replacements. Withdrawing makes more sense if you're reselling. Stock usually comes from charity shops, car boots and wholesale, so you need the money in a bank account anyway. If withdrawals aren't working, see why you can't withdraw money from Vinted.

Either way, the money is still income from selling. Spending it in the app doesn't take it out of your records. See the Vinted 1099-K tax guide if you're in the US.

Know which part of the balance is profit

Vinted's fees mostly sit on the buyer's side, so the balance is close to what you listed the item for. That makes it easy to treat the whole amount as spending money, when part of it really belongs to the cost of the stock you sold. DepopAutomation.com's profit tracker records what each item cost you and its real margin when it sells, on Vinted or Depop. You'll know how much is safe to spend.

More sales clear faster when more items are listed and stay visible:

  • The AI Vinted lister fills in title, description, category, condition and colour from your photos, and cleans the photos up with Google's Nano Banana model.
  • The Vinted bulk upload tool lists a whole bag of stock in one go.
  • Relisting on Vinted refreshes older items with an automatic edit-and-save.

Conclusion

You can use cleared Vinted Balance to buy items on Vinted, as long as it covers the full checkout total, including shipping and buyer protection. Pending money can't be spent. If the option doesn't appear, check verification, update the app and make sure the sale has actually cleared.
