What Happens After You Sell on Vinted? The Sales Process Step by Step

September 27, 2026 · 4 min read

Your first Vinted sale notification is exciting, and then slightly confusing. Where's the money? Where do you get the label? When do you actually get paid? Here's the Vinted sales process from start to finish, so you know what to do at each stage.

Step 1: The buyer pays

When a buyer purchases your item, they pay Vinted, not you directly. The item is marked as sold and you get a notification and a message thread with the order. The buyer's payment includes the item price, shipping and Vinted's buyer protection fee. The protection fee is paid by the buyer, not taken from your sale. See Vinted buyer protection and refunds explained.

At this point the money is not in your balance yet. Vinted holds it until the order is complete.

Step 2: Get your shipping label or code

For orders using Vinted's integrated shipping, the shipping instructions appear in the order conversation. Depending on the carrier the buyer chose, that's usually a prepaid label to print or a code you show at the drop-off point. You don't pay for postage yourself on these orders. If you're not sure how to pick the right parcel size when listing, read how to choose the right Vinted shipping size, and for who covers what, see who pays for shipping on Vinted.

Step 3: Pack and ship before the deadline

Vinted shows a shipping deadline on the order. If you miss it, the order can be cancelled and the buyer refunded, so treat that date as firm. Pack securely, take a quick photo of the item going into the parcel (useful if there's a dispute later), and get it scanned at the drop-off point so tracking starts.

Step 4: Delivery and buyer confirmation

Once tracking shows the parcel as delivered, the buyer gets a short window to check the item and either confirm everything is fine or report a problem. The exact window is shown in the app. If the buyer confirms, or the window passes without an issue being raised, the order completes.

If the buyer reports a problem, the funds stay on hold while it's resolved. Clear photos and an honest description, flaws included, are your best protection here.

Step 5: Money reaches your Vinted Balance

When the order completes, the sale amount lands in your Vinted Balance. It doesn't go to your bank automatically: you have to request a withdrawal. The full timeline, and the most common reasons it stalls, are covered in how long Vinted takes to pay and Vinted balance not showing up.

What can slow the process down

  • Late shipping. It pushes back every later stage and can lead to cancellation.
  • Tracking that never updates. No delivery scan means the confirmation window doesn't start.
  • A reported issue. It holds that order's funds until resolved.
  • Incomplete payout details. Unverified bank or identity details can block the withdrawal even after the balance is available.

Selling on Depop too?

If you cross-list the same stock on Depop, a Vinted sale means the Depop listing has to come down quickly to avoid selling the same item twice. See how to avoid double sales when cross-listing. DepopAutomation.com can generate a listing from your photos and post it to Depop, Vinted or both. The AI listing tool writes titles and descriptions and uses Google's Nano Banana model to clean up photos, the bulk lister handles a whole haul at once, and the profit tracker logs cost, sale price and fees for each item, whichever platform it sold on. Learn more in our Depop and Vinted cross-listing guide.

Conclusion

After a Vinted sale, the buyer pays Vinted, you ship using the label or code in the order before the deadline, the buyer confirms after delivery, and the money moves to your Vinted Balance, where you withdraw it yourself. Ship on time with tracking and the process takes care of itself.
