Is Shipping Included in the Depop Price? How to Tell Before You Buy or List

By Depop Automation Team · October 3, 2026 · 3 min read

A Depop listing shows one price on the item, but the amount a buyer pays at checkout is often higher. Whether shipping is included depends on how the seller set up that listing. Here's how to tell, as a buyer and as a seller.

The short answer

Usually not. By default, Depop adds a shipping charge on top of the item price, and the buyer pays it at checkout. The exception is when a seller offers free shipping. Then the shipping cost has been built into the item price, and checkout adds nothing for postage.

So the price you see on the listing is:

  • The item price only, if shipping is charged separately (the default).
  • Item plus shipping, if the listing shows free shipping.

How buyers can tell

  • Look for a free shipping label on the listing. If there's none, expect shipping on top.
  • Check the shipping line on the listing page, which shows the postage cost or option.
  • Go to checkout. The order summary splits out the item, shipping and any fees before you pay. That's the number that counts.

If you're buying several items from one seller, message them first. Many sellers combine postage or offer a bundle discount.

How sellers should decide

As a seller, you choose between two set-ups.

Shipping on top (the default)

  • Your item price stays low and competitive in search.
  • The buyer sees the extra shipping cost only at checkout, and some abandon the purchase at that point.

Free shipping (built into the price)

  • The listing shows one simple price, which tends to convert better.
  • You must raise the item price enough to cover the label. Otherwise "free shipping" quietly comes out of your profit.

Free shipping works best on items where the shipping cost is small relative to the price. On a cheap, heavy item, building the label in can make the price look uncompetitive. See who pays for shipping on Depop and Depop shipping cost by size for the numbers.

Don't forget fees

Depop's fees and payment processing apply to the sale, and depending on your region, part of that can be calculated on the shipping amount too. Factor that in when you set a free-shipping price. Our Depop selling fees explained guide walks through what to include.

Know your real margin per sale

Whichever option you pick, the risk is the same: across dozens of listings, small shipping miscalculations add up. DepopAutomation.com's profit tracker logs what each item cost, what it sold for and what you paid in fees and shipping. You see straight away whether your free-shipping prices are covering the label.

Conclusion

Shipping usually isn't included in a Depop price: it's added at checkout unless the seller offers free shipping, in which case it's built into the item price. Buyers should check the checkout summary. Sellers should only offer free shipping if the item price covers the label and the fees, and track each sale to make sure it does.
