How to Change Your Bank Account on Depop (and What Happens to Pending Payouts)

By Depop Automation Team · October 16, 2026 · 4 min read

You change your bank account on Depop from the payments or payout settings in the app, where you can update or replace your linked payout account. Any transfer that's already been sent goes to the old account, so wait for it to land before closing that account. Depop may also ask you to verify your details again before it pays out to the new one.

Where to change your bank details

The exact menu names change between app versions and countries, but the route is usually:

  1. Open your profile and go to Settings.
  2. Find the section for payments, Depop Payments, payouts or bank details.
  3. Choose to edit, update or replace your payout account.
  4. Enter the new account details and confirm.

If you can't see the option, update the app and look again. Some changes have to be made through Depop's payment provider, in which case the app will send you there.

What happens to payouts already on the way

  • A transfer that's already been sent goes to the account it was sent to. Changing your details won't redirect it.
  • Money still in your balance will go to the new account once it's set up and verified.
  • Pending sales carry on clearing as normal. See Depop balance vs available balance.

So the safest order is: add the new account, wait for any transfers in progress to arrive, then close the old account.

Why Depop might ask you to verify again

Changing where money goes is a common target for fraud, so payment providers often check that the new account is really yours. You might be asked to confirm your identity or other details. While that check is in progress, payouts can pause. See Depop first payout verification delays.

Make sure the new account is in your own name. An account in someone else's name is a common reason for payouts to fail.

I entered the wrong bank details. What now?

If a transfer was sent to the wrong account number, it usually fails and the money is returned to your Depop balance, though this can take some time. Update your details to the correct account and try again. If the money doesn't come back, contact Depop support with the transfer date and amount. See Depop transfer declined: what to do.

Switching to PayPal or another payout method

In some countries Depop lets you choose between payout methods. If you're weighing them up, see Depop payout methods: PayPal vs bank transfer. For timing, see how long Depop takes to pay.

Keep your records straight when you switch

When payouts start arriving in a new account, it's easy to lose track of what you've earned. DepopAutomation.com's profit tracker keeps a record of every sale's price, cost and fees in one place, whichever account the money lands in, which also makes tax time simpler.

To keep payouts coming, the bulk lister and AI listing tool turn photos into ready listings, the relist feature refreshes older stock, and cross-listing adds Vinted as a second place to sell.

Quick answers

Can I change my bank account on Depop? Yes, from the payments or payouts section of your settings.

Will a transfer in progress go to my new account? No. It goes to the account it was sent to. Keep the old account open until it arrives.

Why are my payouts paused after changing banks? Depop or its payment provider may be verifying the new details. Payouts resume once verification is complete.

Can I use a bank account in someone else's name? No. Use an account in your own name to avoid failed payouts.

Conclusion

Changing your bank account on Depop takes a minute in your payment settings. Add the new account, let any transfers already on their way arrive, complete any verification, and only then close the old account. That way no payout gets lost in the switch.
